An Update Post

1 Nov

I’m relieved to say that I now have an internet connection again! Quite a lot has happened since I last posted so I will try to cover everything within this one post.

Firstly, I got some double-pointed needles (DPNs) a few days back! After having a look at some tutorials online (which was a struggle on my phone), I was a bit worried at how complicated knitting in the round with DPNs looked – although the photos were clear, they all seemed to consist of a massive tangle of needles. Nonetheless, I tried, and unsurprisingly, failed. Feeling a bit disheartened, I left it for the evening and came back the next day. This time, I ignored the photos and just followed the worded instructions, and it worked! I made a small red hat, very similar to the guinea pig one I made a week or so ago. I then went on to make a last-minute ghost finger puppet on Halloween. It turns out that DPNs are simple as there are only two ‘working’ needles which change as you go round – it’s nowhere near as complicated as it looks.

It was Tuesday’s birthday on Tuesday (ironically), so I made him Claws, Paws’ heavy-duty brother. It took two attempts – on the first go, I used some thick twine which was very difficult to work with and made my wrists ache afterwards. It looked terrible so I went out and purchased some softer string. It was much easier to knit with and is still very tough. Tuesday loves it, but we have to be careful because he keeps trying to eat the tail (?). Because of this, I haven’t been able to get any pictures of him with it yet, but I promise that I will post some soon.

I have also been working on my first pattern, a striped glasses pouch. I’ve nearly finished it, so I will post the pattern with photos when completed.

Sorry for the break,
Goose

Paws: A Christmas Cat’s Best Friend

20 Oct

65 days remain until Christmas, but I like to get ahead of the game and start early with present organisation. Today, I made my cat, Tuesday, his gift – a knitted Christmas mouse toy.

It’s going to be for when he’s calm only (hence the name Paws) – it’s meant to be his mousey version of a teddy bear. I’m hoping that he won’t destroy it, but he can be pretty lethal with his claws at times!

It’s his birthday on the 30th of October too, so for that, I will knit him Paws’ heavy-duty brother, Claws from string instead of wool, and maybe stuff him with a little bit of catnip too.

Thanks very much to Wilderness Witch Knits for this fantastic pattern which created Paws (and will be used to create Claws too):

Enjoy your Sunday,
